Restylane Dermal Filler: Your Questions Answered

Posted on 26. Aug, 2009 by in Non-Surgical Procedures

People who are looking for methods to control the aging process without turning to surgical methods are choosing the injection, Restylane for help. The substance has been approved by the FDA as a safe procedure to deal with severe facial wrinkles.

However, if you are considering getting a treatment to offset the signs of age, then you, like anyone else, are sure to have questions you want answered. Of course, the best place to get your most detailed questions answered would be your doctor, but here, you will find the basic and most common inquiries and explanations.

What is Restylane? The chemical is made into a gel from a substance called hyaluronic acid. A good thing to keep in mind is that our bodies actually produce the acid naturally, so Restylane is not a foreign substance that is being injected.

What are the uses of Restylane? The chemical is used to smooth away wrinkle on the face. Most of the time, it is best used on the wrinkles that form around the mouth and nose. These folds can be greatly affected with an injection.

The injections are only temporary, lasting about half a year. They work by filling in the area, or puffing out the skin so that the wrinkles and crevices disappear. While not a permanent solution, it is a safe method to use continually.

What are the side effects? Generally, anyone treated with a Restylane injection will experience redness, slight swelling, and minor pain at the site of the injection. The swelling and redness should go away within a two-day period.

In order to avoid any negative problems, a patient who has received Restylane should avoid putting undue pressure on the area for at least two days. This will give the gel time to set. In addition, the patient should avoid high heat, like from excessive sun exposure, for a short period.

Are there people who should avoid Restylane? People who experience severe skin allergies to several different things should avoid the injections. This applies strongly to people who have ever experienced anaphylactic shock. If you have problems with allergies of any type, talk in depth with your doctor before receiving Restylane.

Will Restylane get rid of all my wrinkles? Unfortunately, no it will not. The Dermal Filler injections are extremely helpful for deep wrinkles along the mouth and nose. It cannot be considered a cure all no more than any other procedure. In fact, many people choose the injections along with surgery.

Hi. I just turned 31. i don’t know if i’m too young to begin doing this yet.
My smile lines (nasolabial folds) are not very deep but I still notice them. If i do begin to get fills every six months, would that be a preventive measure for the future? because i wouldn’t be using thoughs muscles right? therefore, can’t get worse?
also, which would be the cheapest? Juvederm, dermal fillers, restylane, and perioral lazer?
    Which lasts the longest?
Know of a place in Edmonton A.B?
