no only joking i wouldn’t reqummend heven having it done by a hospital unless you are so over weight that your life is at risk. eat healthy!

i tryed it and lost 3 stone in in 6 minuits i used a henry hover redused the pipe down to having 8mm micro bore copper heating pipe cut at an angle and sharpened six points of entry on my belly cant even tell.

i share your opinion ” the spiral”, he has had training and back up of medical staff.
this is not a do it home procedure.
no use placing yourself at risk of infection.

listen up “the spiral”…who cares what you think…you dont know for a fact that he’as just after attention…how synical of you…maybe he’s just a cosmetic surgeon who decided he was too fat in the belly region (and lets face it-he wasnt fat-BUT-being exposed to the crazy mind sets of his customers,god knows how that affects ones own view of self image) and decided it would be entertaining or at least interesting to video it, maybe he even had to, for record purposes..i dont know. and all that crap about it giving people ideas to do it to themselves, well, if people are THAT impressionable we wouldnt have half the stuff we have in this modern world would we? so take a chill pill man and get off your soap-box

Did I say Alaska? I meant Antarctica. Vostok station, to be precise. On a similar note, an American doctor (Jerri Nielsen, I believe) at Amundsen-Scott base at the south pole discovered she had breast cancer at the beginning of the winter; she was stranded for months and had to do a get a welder to assist her in performing a biopsy of her breast. They managed to air-drop chemo drugs and she had to train mechanics and engineers in placing IVs and administering chemotherapy. She went on to live about ten years before succumbing to the disease, and while it’s impossible to guess how long she would have made it lacking her discovery and her bravery, it’s a safe assumption that she wouldn’t have lasted a tenth as long.

This is another case of desperate circumstances calling for desperate measures. This Japanese doctor, on the other hand, is – in my opinion – merely desperate for attention.

I don’t speak any Japanese, but the person in this video is obviously a surgeon performing the procedure on himself. Notice that he is in an operating room, that he is given an epidural (an injection of painkillers into the tissue surrounding the spinal cord, as is often given to women in labor), that he is hooked up to a heart monitor and surrounded by scrubbed-in nurses/doctors. Had he made one wrong move (perforated his colon, for example), it was obvious that there were people ready to step in and take over. Considering all of the above, while this man’s self-liposuction was a stupid stunt, in his case it doesn’t seem to have been unreasonably dangerous. What IS dangerous is that it might encourage people to attempt this at home, without training and without the proper equipment, experience, and – perhaps most importantly – backup in the form of experienced nurses and surgeons on hand.

The video is irresponsible in that it might encourage a layperson to attempt this at home, but that said, it’s pretty obvious that while this video is advertised as “self-liposuction”, the guy was hardly flying solo.

There was once a Russian physician at a remote station in Alaska who had to remove his own appendix using a mirror – since then the Russians always have at least two doctors at the station. While that Russian doctor was in a dire situation and pulled off an amazing act of desperate bravery, this japanese guy is obviously just out for his fifteen minutes of youtube fame – and is either oblivious of the potential consequences or just doesn’t care. Pity.

He makes it look so easy. But, he had help (nurses) and what looked like professional equipment. A far cry from a dinner knife and straw. It even appeared as though he had a local anesthetic. Not to mention, the fat he removed was not that much and so he was able to see what he was doing a lot better then an obese person would. I’d love it if doing this was as easy as 1 2 3. But, without some knowledge of what you are doing, the right tools, and perhaps some help, it’s akin to trying to rewire an electrical system without knowing a thing about how and with the power still on. Not really all that bright.
