Is your face riddled with laughter lines, crow’s feet and wrinkles? Perhaps you are feeling old before your time? Well fear not as there are so many things you can do to achieve a youthful appearance.

From skin tightening to popular microdermabrasion procedures, there’s a wealth of tips and techniques which will stop you looking like an OAP.

So, here are some ways to keep looking young:

Facial peels

If your skin is looking dead, dull and lifeless, it might be a good idea to check yourself in for a facial peel. A deep form of exfoliation, this non-surgical procedure helps remove dead skin and works to improve tone and texture. There are a variety of peel procedures; however, all should leave you with a clear, bright complexion.

Laser hair removal

If you have a bit of an unwanted moustache going on, why not treat yourself to laser hair removal? Unwanted hair can be extremely embarrassing, however, lasers will destroy the base of the follicle and rid you of your problem forever. Although the procedure can be slightly uncomfortable it is not unbearable and is much better than having ugly-looking hair on your chin.

Botox ®

Many people are choosing to have Botox these days and are getting rid of unsightly lines. A fantastic non-surgical wrinkle treatment you can now look younger for longer and be proud when you look in the mirror. A protein called Botulinum Toxin is injected into the skin using a fine needle and this helps the muscles relax. The treatment can last between 3 and 4 months and is raved about by many celebrities.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers work to soften wrinkles, lines and fill out hollows to create a super smooth look. As your skin ages it loses the collagen that helped support it, which means your face can age rapidly. If you have significant nose to mouth lines or droopy old cheeks, then this treatment can do wonders for your overall appearance.

Omnilux light therapy

When you are young you really don’t have to work that hard at keeping your skin looking healthy. Of course there are the acne years, but with age your skin can look really dull. Omnilux light therapy is a relaxing skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates deep skin tissue. Designed to soften fine lines, improve skin tone and achieve a softer complexion this is great for anyone whose skin requires a bit of TLC.

So if you don’t like the way you look, why not treat yourself to one of the above procedures? We would also love to you to share your tips on what cosmetics you use to keep yourself looking younger.

IPL stands for intense pulsed light, and it is a type of treatment that is used to help reduce certain skin problems of the face and neck. The results are usually almost immediate and quite obvious. Here, you will find some basic information about IPL and what it can offer. It may be the right treatment for you.

IPL Laser treatment works by sending strong pulses of light into the skin. The laser does not do damage to the outer part of the skin. In fact, most patients do not have any side effects other than a little discomfort.

The laser is made to make an impact in the deep tissue area of the skin, where damage originates. There are different types of the IPL treatment to target and repair different types of damage. The specific laser for your needs will be used when you meet with a professional.

With many different facial resurfacing treatments, like microdermabrasion, patients will have damage done to the outer surface of the skin. This is not true with IPL, so many patients are able to resume normal life right after the treatment.

Usually, patients will need to undergo a series of treatments, ranging from four to six, depending on the extent of the damage that needs to be repaired. A patient may not see perfect results until the latter treatments.

IPL works well as a treatment for skin problems such as rosacea, freckles, broken blood vessels and deposits of dark pigmentation. IPL will not work on superficial scarring or wrinkles.

The actual procedure lasts less than half an hour. A patient may feel some pain, but it is relatively minor. The light is applied with a special hand piece, and the patient must wear protective eyewear. The patient will be able to go back to normal activity right after the procedure.

Many people have an IPL treatment while they are on their lunch break since it is such a simple and noninvasive procedure.

Although the IPL treatments are not permanent, the results can last a year or more. In truth, how long the results last is largely up to the patient. If a person stays out of the sun as much as possible and applies sunscreen when they must be exposed, then they can enjoy the results of the IPL for a longer time.

The treatment may not be right for you. You will need to speak with your dermatologist to determine if IPL can help you with your skin problems.

It’s not just a dream that you could have smooth skin without shaving, waxing, and other horrible methods of hair removal. Laser hair removal is a safe procedure that is suitable for both men and women, over most areas of the face and body. There’s no reason to continue struggling with unwanted hair when state of the art technology exists to remove it virtually permanently from your life.

How This Technology Works

High level laser energy is directed toward each hair. Melanin in the skin and the hair converts the laser energy into heat. The heat is conducted down to the base of the hair follicle. This effectively disables the hair growth cycle, stopping it from growing.

It might sound rather frightening to think lasers will be used on your skin and hair, but this effective treatment does not hurt and does not damage the skin surrounding the target follicle. Unlike electrolysis or waxing, there are simply no side effects, and you may achieve the results you crave in only a handful of quick, easy sessions.

Multiple visits will probably be needed, as each hair is in a different growth state at different times. It typically takes four to eight treatments to see a reduction in hair growth, and maintenance treatments may be needed annually for a couple of years to really make sure the task is complete. One by one, you can prevent those ugly unwanted hairs from ever coming back!

Prepare for the Procedure

White, blonde, and grey hair is difficult if not impossible to treat with laser hair removal. Technologies are in development to remove these light hairs, but they have not been perfected. In general, the darker the hair, the better the treatment takes. For those with very dark skin, laser hair removal may not be the best treatment; discuss this with a specialist before launching off on a schedule.

You may need to shave the area before the procedure, but don’t worry: laser hair removal will cause the hair to fall out, so it won’t grow back darker and coarser in the end. Check with your practitioner before your treatment.

Take a couple of over the counter pain relievers before the session, if you like. Certain areas of the body feel more uncomfortable, such as the lower legs; however, most of the zaps with the laser are completely discomfort-free. A numbing skin lotion could help you as well; ask the practitioner for recommended products.

The hairs fall out within two weeks of the treatment, and leave your body more easily if you help them along with a few exfoliating measures. You may experience a brief period of coarseness but don’t worry, it will all end soon.

Picking the Correct Laser Hair Removal Specialist

Just as though you were choosing a doctor or dentist, ask around for recommendations. The cheapest place is not always the best.

Good laser hair removal specialists do not need to offer discounts, and typically have longer waiting periods for appointments. This is a positive sign, because that means the specialist is very good and much sought after.
